At Busto’s Martial Arts In Plainview, We Teach A Mixed Martial Art Curriculum Which Includes Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Japanese Ju Jutsu, Shootfighting, Judo, And Submission Wrestling!
Busto’s Martial Arts Mixed Martial Art Program is similar and, in some cases, both supplementary and complementary to the Olympic Sport of Judo. In our Curriculum, we believe that it is not only important to control an opponent on the ground, but also on one’s feet. Therefore, we have taken the proactive approach of marrying the arts of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Shoot Fighting and Submission Wrestling into our program.
Shoot Fighting is a combination of Jiu-Jitsu, catch wrestling, Sambo and many other forms of grappling arts. Shihan John Busto is one of the highest ranked practitioners of Shoot Fighting, having trained under world-renowned Shoot Fighting teacher Bart Vale.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling art that evolved in Brazil out of traditional Japanese Ju Jutsu brought back from Japan in the late 18th Century. It became popularized in America in the mid-1990s with the advent of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (or BJJ) concentrates on dominating your opponent by using angles, leverage, and superior body positioning to control their body movement. A person that has a superior position is in a better situation to apply a finishing hold or to start striking. BJJ allows for a smaller, lighter person to defeat a much larger attacker.
Busto’s MMA incorporates a wide range of techniques and methods from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
We recommend this style for men, women, and children looking for a great workout and realistic self-defense training. Mixed Martial Arts training is excellent for women, who are often taken to the ground during assaults, because it teaches you how to neutralize an attackers size and weight advantage using leverage, and by exploiting the inherent weaknesses in a person’s joints and pressure points.
