I’ve been part of the Busto’s family since I was 16 years old. It’s been 20 years and I’m continuing to grow and learn. Shihan John Busto treats every student like family. There are classes for all ages and skill levels. I’ve even been lucky enough to assist in teaching over the years. I highly recommend.

I have been involved with Shihan John B and his pursuits in the martial arts for over 30 years. I am a 67 year old male who maintains the flexibility and balance of a man 30+ years my junior, all as a result of training with Shihan and his highly competent staff. If you are feeling stiff, like you need a snap to get up and go, to improve overall heath and life expectancy, stop by and look into his program offerings, and get back on the road to an improved existance. No one is too old, or too far gone to make a change via the martial arts.

My three sons have been attending Busto’s Martial Arts in Plainview for the past three years, and I couldn’t be more pleased. The trainers are incredibly kind and patient with the kids. They really know how to connect with them and bring out their best. It’s amazing to see how much my boys have grown in confidence, discipline, and skill thanks to this supportive environment. Highly recommend this place to any parent looking for a positive and enriching experience for their children!

I am proud to be part of the Busto’s Martial Arts "Family" for over 20 years. I use the term "family" because it truly seems like a family. The culture at Busto’s Martial Arts is extremely positive. It is a culture of respect, encouragement and inclusiveness. The school's foundation is build upon positive motivation.

Busto’s Martial Arts is extremely active in the Plainview-Old Bethpage, Hicksville, Melville, and Huntington communities.

The importance of personal and community respect, as well as commitment, responsibility and discipline, are some of the underlying principles at Busto’s Martial Arts.

Teaching a sport or art, in this case Kenpo Martial Arts, is a very intricate process. Busto’s Martial Arts does an incredible job at teaching the fundamentals of the art and progressing through the tasks as the students skills and abilities increase. For over five years I have watched my children progress along with many other children, young adults as well as the extensive adult programs like self defense and such. The focus to detail at each and every level is quite amazing.

A telling way to evaluate how promising a program is is by seeing former students progress through the program and return as instructors, in this case Sensei’s and bring the energy and enthusiasm that they experienced to the new students. This is truly one of the best ways to tell how a program is run. Some of the Sensei’s, who have full time occupations in fields like Bank Cybersecurity or CPA’s at large accounting firms, all want to share the experience by coming back to their Martial Arts school and instruct the new students of the art. You are in great hands at Busto’s!

We love Busto’s! Both of our sons go there, our oldest for almost 3 years. The entire team there is warm, friendly and great with kids. The Sensei’s are patient, and make the activities and learning fun all while instilling listening skills and discipline.

Also love the facilities, you can watch the entire class while giving the kids their own space. Highly recommend Busto’s!

I've been going to Busto’s with my dad for as long as I can remember, at this point almost 11 years, and it has been an absolutely amazing experience. As I enter into my freshman year of college and continue to come to Busto’s, I realize that, looking back, I have learned so much when it comes to discipline, respect, self-confidence, and, of course, self-defense. I have had amazing teachers and role models, all of whom have impacted and made a difference in my life, making me a better person. This especially extends to Shihan John Busto, who has truly given me so many opportunities to excel and has always pushed me to be my best self. As I continue on the path towards earning my Black Belt, I've made so many friends along the way and I truly recommend everyone gives it a try, because once you start you’ll only want to continue!!

We just had my son's 6th birthday party. The level of professionalism by every team member was outstanding. I called Busto’s after the original party place that I had booked told me that they couldn't accommodate the large number of guests that we were having. I immediately called Busto’s to see if they could accommodate and they made everything SO easy. I have been getting a ton of compliments from parents who were also incredibly impressed by the experience. Shihan John, Christine and ALL of the young helpers were so good with both the kids and adults. I don't typically write reviews, but when a place does this great a job, they deserve the recognition. I started at Busto’s Martial Arts when I was 3 years old. I grew up at this place and it’s become a second home to me. I have spent a lot of time and I can say first hand it’s very warm and welcoming open to anyone that walks through their doors. After so many years of being a student at this great studio I have become a teacher. Everyone at Busto’s values your time and presence recognizing your needs. This studio means a lot to me and it has helped build me as a person and I highly recommend giving it a try. You’ll meet a ton of new friends and learn some self defense.

My son started pre-COVID and when we came back, the place was spotless and they cleaned during lessons! He has been attending for 4+ years and loves it! The instructors are friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. Their system is so intelligent and keeps the kids engaged, excited, and ready to come back! My son said, and I quote, "I'm going until I get my black belt!" So we are lifers! Thank you, Shihan Busto and the rest of the exceptional staff! And I won't forget Christine at the front desk who is so incredibly helpful!

My daughters, ages 3 and 5, both go. It’s literally my older daughter’s favorite thing to do. She goes three to four days per week for upwards of four hours per day, and will be having her birthday party there next month. It's not cheap, but then, nothing here is. I'd highly recommend. The senseis are excellent, and Shihan John is fantastic. They always have a deal for a month or six weeks for $100 that comes with the uniform to assess whether your kid will enjoy it.
